I’m proud to be leading our region on our journey towards being net zero carbon by
at the latest, with significant progress by 2030. We know that won’t be easy – it will require urgent, decisive and collaborative action.
Our Climate and Environment Plan
Our Climate and Environment Plan sets out the actions we need to take to rapidly lower our emissions, embrace new technologies and improve the sustainability of our homes and buildings. Reaching net zero will require every single one of us to make changes to the way we live our lives, from how we travel to the food we put on the table. However, it will also unlock a once-in-a-generation opportunity to truly transform our region, reshape our economy and tackle ingrained inequalities.
Our vision
- We have a vision of creating a West Yorkshire where everyone has access to reliable, affordable, emission-free travel.
- We want everyone to enjoy homes that are warm, free of damp and cheap to run.
- We want to create energy supplies which are local, flexible and cost-effective
- And we want to inspire everyone, not just those starting out in the world of work, to make their career a green one, with skills support and training available to all.
Across our region, there are a number of exciting, innovative opportunities which are highlighted in this investment prospectus.
We’re determined to work in partnership, across the public, private and third sectors to turn our ambition into a future defined by hope, innovation and collaboration.
This is an exciting chapter in West Yorkshire’s story, and we need the right investment partners to unlock the opportunities that will shape our future.
